You could use this mascara for everyday wear, if you wanted to. However the brush is not that great compared to other more expensive brands - brands that aren't THAT much more expensive,[$]. I would rather pay [$] and get a fantastic brush. You get what you pay for in this case.It's hard to get off as well. Overall, it's average mascara, average brush, average quality. I'll still use it so extend the life of my better-quality mascara.

It looks very natural, but it hardley lengthens or volumizes.
Clumpy, didn't provide very much coverage. The not waterproof one was more clumpy than the waterproof.
I like this product, especially when you consider the price. I did not find it difficult to remove at all, as many others claim. I just use a warm wash cloth. The only con is that it does smudge and seems to take extra long to dry. I just rearranged the order that I apply my makeup and it is no big deal.

I have used many mascaras, and this is the first I will call "MY FAVORITE"! It does not clump or smudge. I wear contacts and this works great. No flakes, no racoon eyes. I highly recommend it!!
I am not a fan of this mascara. It felt awkward to use thanks to the double sided wand and the brush only clumped my lashes together. My lashes are long and naturally dark so I don't ask much of my mascara yet this still did not work for me.
I love this mascara. It's really easy to apply and great for everyday. The only con I have is about once a week I have to clean the brush of clumps and it's doesnt really give any volume but who needs that for school? The waterproof works like a charm it with standed hours at the pool

this was helpful because you could have both the waterproof and the regular mascara handy but it clumped when put on and i had to go back with an eyelash brush to separate the eyelashes

This was a lot less clumpy than what i'm used to especially if you run your lash and brow wand through when your done. but you can't blink untill it dries a little

I think this mascara is great stuff.It really lengthens my lashes and it doesn't clump or smudge under my eyes.I make sure to keep an extra tube around the house so I don't run out.Thanks Elf for a great product.

If one waterproof mascara can survive a whole day at the pool with me (wich is very exhausting)it will get my recomendations for the rest of my life.
When I look for mascaras I actually look for ones that highlight my eyelashes but don't volumize or lengthen them too much. My eyelashes are really long and full, so I don't want to look like a street walker after applying mascara. This mascara worked really well at highlighting my eyelashes. If you desire a mascara that lenghtens and volumizes you probably wouldn't want to pick this one.

the regular is pretty good, I've never used the water-proof side yet. It went on easily and looked clean. I still would use a different brand for for 'going-out' more dramatic lashes.

Smells nice and good coverage but it's difficult to apply and takes some skill to get it even.
The waterproof mascara was not waterproof when we went to the pool.

My friends and I all used this when we were on vacation and taking a day trip on a boat. I had a difficult time applying it - I spent ten minutes in front of the mirror and still couldn't tell that I had any mascara on. My friends later said that they had the same problem, so we just gave up.
I didn't love the Regular side either - I don't know if it's the small brush or the formula, but I'll be returning to my previous brand.

I bought this from Target (yeah!! they have it in stores) and I really like it. I have to say this (you'll never believe it) IT SMELLS SO GOOD! I can't even descbribe the yummy smell. Only the brown, though. and it works fine!
OKay mascara. Clumpy and brush isn't very good. I was disappointed
I love the idea, but the execution wasn't the best. The brush was full with clumpy mascara. It would clump my lashes together and smudge. If you already have the mascara, use it. But if you don't, don't waste you buck.

The regular mascara is amazing, and I swear by it. It makes my eyelashes look beautifully long without clumping them. However, the waterproof side didn't work so well for me. It may just be the particular mascara I received, but the waterproof side clumped up my eyelashes so badly that they looked like twigs. Ha. But I am definitely going to continue to buy it for the regular side.

I use the mascara everyday and LOVE it!!! I don't so much like the duo bottle because I can't wear waterproof. It makes my eyelashes fall out. Maybe you could have them in separate bottles? Just a request and a thought. I love your products!

eh...it's okay. i will use my max mascara, then put the elf on, then finish it with the max. that seems to help. either way, i'm still going back to my old $6 mascara. it's good for the price, but just doesn't do what i like my mascara to do. i do, however, really like the smaller size of the brush.
my eyes are extremely watery so i must look for a waterproof mascara that works well
other waterproof mascara is really hard to erase
but this is really easy to take off, if you want to take it off, of course
the doesn't necessarily put so much effect on your lashes, though

What I really like about the mascara is that there is a waterproof side and a non-waterproof side all in one tube. It's genius.

One thing I can not stand is a mascara that does not stay in place. This product left black flakes on my face after it dried. I was not happy with the results.
I love the size good for travel way good looking package. I've only used the regular side. Decent application I have to work a little harder to keep it from clumping lashes together then with my [...]mascaras. Removal is hard I use makeup removal pads that have always worked well at getting my makeup off but not for this. The regular side is as hard to get off as waterproof. You have rub a lot to get it off.
I really like this mascara because it is easy to apply, lasts a long time, and washes off with ease. I generally have raccoon eyes by mid-day but this mascara lasts all day. I have very sensitive eyes plus I wear contacts, which means I have to be picky about mascara. This one hasn't irritated my eyes at all. One last thing I love is that I don't have to feel bad when I replace my mascara after a few months use (as recommended) since it only costs[$]!!!
I received my products today after a long three week wait. I opened my mascara duo only to find out there was nothing in the regular side. I tried the waterproof side and it was great though. It seems that ELF is forgetting things because they have a lot of orders.
The regular side is good, but the waterproof is so clumpy, I don't use it. I would recommend this to a friend but I would tell them not to use the waterproof side

This mascara is terrif! I use it all the time and I can't believe how great it looks! The best part is that the waterproof mascara stays put and then comes off easily when you are ready. I no longer have to tug to get some off and then wake up looking like a raccoon with terrible allergies! Thanks!!!!

Normally, elf has great products for great prices. This mascara isn't even worth the [$]. It's more of a "lash tint" then a mascara. Other then the color, which was a nice deep black, this mascara did nothing. No length, volume, nothing. Both the earth & water smudged and flaked after a very short time. Also, the tube dried up after only a few weeks. If you are looking for something just to tint your lashes and you only need to wear it for an hour or two, then this is the product for you. Otherwise, save your [$].

I have this product in black and brown; the colors are good and for the price, it's ok i suppose. It does last all day and the waterproof side does not leak or smudge, even when you have watery eyes or whatever.. Just keep in mind the following: it clumps easily when applying, doesn't go on smoothly, very very difficult to remove (even with the best eye makeup remover, it leaves clumps of crayon-looking particles in my eyes) and has a funky smell. i suppose, the quality is not there - i didn't expect it for the price.
It's not bad for the price, but it's really not that great of a product. After you put it on and it dries, it flakes off really easily. You really can't touch your eye after putting this on if you want to keep it on.

Really good, but I would really like to buy just Earth or just Water, instead of both together. I always run out of the regular side and have a lot left on the waterproof side. But for a [$] I won't complain!

I have very fair skin and naturally light lashes so I need brown mascara to look natural. This one is the perfect color for me. I only apply one coat and it goes on easily without clumping. It does start to flake off at the end of the day though.

I really love this mascara. It's so much better than a big name brand mascara. It is easy to apply and it doesn't get clumpy like other mascaras.
This product was clean and not clumpy, but the downside is my lashes did not get much impact from this mascara. It was really, really dry. I had to use many strokes to make my lashes look any different than they already look naturally.

I love this duo mascara. The waterproof doesn't go on quite as heavy as the regular, so it takes a couple of coats to get the same look, but they're both awesome. You can't beat the price, smell & quality of this duo!
its pretty cool that it has the two ends to it and it works pretty well. The only thing is that it is kind of clumpy and it isn't as dramatic as the makeup i usually wear but its only a dollar so it works well enough for its price.

THE BRUSH WAS VERY SMALL. VERY SMALL. DOES NOT DRY VERY FAST. HOWEVER THE BLACK IS VERY BLACK WHICH IS NICE AND STAYS ON ALL DAY AND NIGHT. MY LASHES LOOK GREAT EVEN THE NEXT MORNING. JUST NEED A LONGER BRUSH.

I have never use a water proof mascara that came off with out taking my lashes with it. This one does nothing of the sort. I'm sold!
uhm..well it was all right. it wasnt the greatest but i mean for a buck u cant really complain. when i first got it it was all clumpy nd gooey but i just swiped it with tissue. after that it was okay but it seemed a little dry. maybe i just got a bad one...

I live in the south, in high humidity and heat. I also have eyes that are very sensitive and water quite often. This mascara is worth it for me. It stays put on my eyes, and it doesn't smudge through out the day, even with tons of sweat. The biggest downside, is that it seems to take a long time to dry. So I've had to change my my routine a little bit. One big feature I do love is that it is kinda stubby, it really allows me to have more control. I have yet to poke myself in the eye or mess up. I really love this product.

The mascara comes in nice colors, I have used the black and brown. There isn't much mascara in the tubes though. It doesn't apply smoothly and gets clumpy. Makes my eyelashes look spidery.

First of all, I LOVE the smell of this product...it smells like green apple. I find the mascara clumps easily if you apply more than a few coats. The waterproof side works amazingly but I don't like the way it looks as much as I like the other side.
I use brown mascara exclusively and I really like the color of this mascara. I'm a contact lens wearer so I'm pretty picky about my eye make-up products. I have no trouble with this mascara and my contacts/eyes. And no raccoon eyes! Hoorah! 2 minor complaints: 1) I never wear waterproof mascara so 2 separate products offered as larger tubes each would be great. And 2) Mascara is pretty flaky when you remove it, even with high dollar eye make-up remover. But overall, great product for the money.
Not the best I've used. Bought it but went back to my old product after trying it for a few days.
Like others said, the waterproof side is clumpy, comes off in flakes and when I touched my lashes, they felt funny. Also, they did not curl well. However, the regular mascara worked fine and curled a ton better. When I combined the waterproof kind w/ the waterproof liquid eyeliner, it was all one big mess!

Well, the design is really nice looking...but the product itself ain't that great. I haven't tried the waterproof side yet but after reading a lot of the reviews, I'm a little scared too. The regular side is alright but the brush could be better. It lasted long but when it came to take it off, it was difficult and flaked a lot. I think I'll stick to my regular [$] mascaras instead.....

I LOVE this product! I have it brown and I use it everyday! I was somewhat skeptical when I first ordered it because I used to have to wear waterproof mascara everyday and still ended up with racoon eyes by 4pm. I use the regular side everyday and it never runs or smudges, and i use the waterproof now only for beach and pool days. Also I have really short eye lashes and this mascara makes them thicker and longer!! Highly recommend! I will never go back to any other mascara!! [$]
I decided to use the regular side of this mascara today before going to work. It was a hot, hot day and I just got home and my mascara hasn't budged at all! Usually on hot days I can't keep my mascara from smudging onto my eyelids and underneath my eyes, but this mascara looks exactly the same now as it did when I put it on 6 hours earlier. The only con is that I wish it gave more volume and that it came in it's own seperate tube because I don't ever use waterproof mascara on my lashes, no matter what brand it is. This mascara is good for defining and lengthening your lashes...and it doesn't budge! :o)

The waterproof side is rubbish. Within 10 minutes of application it was flaked all over my face, and it made my lashes as stiff as boards and unnatural.
The normal side is much better! It has better lasting power than the waterproof, goes on easily and looks natural. It curls and lengthens my lashes just the right amount. This isn't a mascara to wear when you want to look dazzling; like most of ELF's products, I find that it's best for everyday or workday wear, with a nice, subtle, groomed look.
The mascara also smells rather strongly of apples. However, I have not encountered any problems with my eyes while using it, so the "Hypoallergenic" claim seems to be holding up.
Suggestion to ELF: Offer the two mascaras as two larger, separate products. With nearly all these reviews, it seems that one side or the other is preferred.

I've used this product for almost a week now and I don't like how it feathers and clumps. I end up with pieces of mascara under my eye and on top of my lid. I do like the design of the tube, but neither side of it worked for my eyelashes. Try again, pls.

I just recently discovered e.l.f. products and overall I am happy with the majority of them.
The mascara duo however, was a disappointment.
It's a great idea...the two-in-one concept, but the waterproof version is nearly impossible to apply. It goes on incredibly clumpy, and if you wipe off the excess, it simply doesn't apply. It's very very dry.
The regular version is great, but I'll stick to my usual waterproof mascara.

I love e.l.f and I'm happy with most of their products. I would even love the mascara, except for the brush and the drying out. I could never really close it all the way, so I think that is why it dried out so fast. I bought 2 and had that problem with both. The brush did no justice to my lashes. I did use it in an emergency (LOL) with another brush and it was fine. It stayed on the whole night,too, and no smudging.
So change the bottle and the brush, please!

I love this product. Its the best bang for the buck out there. Its long lasting, easy to apply, plus it looks great. I like that you have waterproof mascara on one end, and regular mascara on the other. Even the waterproof is easy to remove! However, my only downfall is that I wish it had a curved brush on each end. Still, I love this product, use it every day!

This mascara is kind of strange cause it smells like green apple and it says that its unscented so i was kind of shocked when i smelled it. Otherwise its pretty good. I dont use the waterproof as much a I do the regular.. it clumps too..
Overall just okay!

Okae now although this isn't a waste of a dollar it has its cons. It does clump so maybe you should get a lash comb to comb your lashes after you use it. And also it doesn't dry out. well atleast mine hasnt, and i had it for a week when some other reviews said after 2 days. So i guess it depends if it's old or not. =D
this stuff is good you just have to make sure you dont have any mascara on when you go to put this on because this causes it to clump so you cant reaply without taking off your the mascara and putting it on again.

I got it and found the waterproof side had almost dried out There were barely a couple uses and it end up with clumps. The regular side is OK, but nothing special. The brush is more or less rough and cheap. Well, it is cheap, isn't it?

Thank you for responding to your customers' feedback, that is the sign of a great company. For us blondes, black is a little too dramatic. It is very difficult to find a reliable brown mascara. Ladies, are you with me? :) Finally!
Your mascara is a lot thicker than other brands, which tend to be too thin and watery. They run and give me raccoon eyes very soon after applying, especially when wearing with liquid foundation or concealer.
If too much of the product comes out for you, I just wipe it off against the tip to put the remainder back in the tube. Don't use a tissue like one reviewer said, the last thing you want to do is ever waste an e.l.f product.
Thank you e.l.f. for coming up with the 2-in-1 wet/dry combo. Great for us ladies on the go, and for those of us who live on the beach! Love you e.l.f.!
Not bad as far as mascara goes. It does clump some if you don't use a eyelask comb after.
